| The Garmin 010-00658-40 Forerunner 410 GPS-Enabled Sports Watch is an improved version of the Garmin Forerunner 405CX. It features an improved touch bezel that can withstand sweat and getting wet. The touch bezel is no longer as ultra-sensitive which makes it much easier to use. This particular model does not come with a heart rate monitor. However, that can always be purchased separately. Having the optional heart rate monitor makes heart zone training possible. It also needs a heart rate monitor to be able to compute for the amount of calories burned in a workout session. Aside from a power saving mode which can make the battery last for two weeks, the watch has an off button too. In power saving mode, it can be used like a regular wrist watch. However, it is still a bit bigger than a regular wrist watch which is why some people choose to turn it off and just use it for training or competing. In GPS mode, the battery can only last for 8 hours max. This GPS running watch is made for serious runners who want to take training to the next level. The watch can be programmed for simple workouts, advanced and interval training. With the heart rate monitor, heart zone training can also be done. Conclusion : The Garmin 010-00658-40 Forerunner 410 GPS-Enabled Sports Watch is fully customizable and it can get a signal in a matter of seconds. Its price is a bit high and the initial set up might seem complicated. However, once it is set up, it is easy to use. Through ANT+ wireless technology, it is also much easier to transfer, upload and download data.

| The Garmin Forerunner 310XT Waterproof Running GPS with USB ANT Stick and Heart Rate Monitor is a good watch for triathletes. However, due to the limitations of GPS technology and technology per se, it cannot really be used for swimming. It does, however, estimate swim distance and average speed. It is the only Garmin Forerunner watch that can actually be submerged in water up to 50m. A lot like other Garmin watches, this watch has a high sensitivity GPS receiver which can lock on weak satellite signals. This bundle includes a heart rate monitor with a soft and comfortable chest strap. The watch can compute for the amount of calories expended through the heart rate monitor. It also comes with a USB ANT+ stick that makes wireless data transfers much easier. This GPS running watch is easy to use once one gets past the initial setup. For some features to work, other data must be programmed on the watch. It does not allow for on the fly changes and switchbacks. It must be programmed or used consciously. The multi-sport functions is not as flexible as many people think. Even if many triathletes find this watch lacking due to the lack of swimming functions, it can record transitions between sports. Conclusion : The Garmin Forerunner 310XT Waterproof Running GPS with USB ANT Stick and Heart Rate Monitor is one of the most advanced watches that have a multi-sport function. All its features may not work while swimming, it is expensive and its glass face can easily break, but it is a good multi-sport watch that can help with advanced training.
